

The first 2008 West Virginia Mushroom Club foray
will be a Morel hunt
at Stuart Recreation Area just East of Elkins, WV at 10:00 am on
Saturday, May 3rd, rain or shine. Bill Roody, author of Mushrooms of
West Virginia and the Central Appalachians will be our taxonomist for
this foray. The foray fee of $10 per person and $15 per family includes
lunch. Please being an item to share, such as a covered dish, cookies
or chips, etc.
We will gather at Shelter 2 in the Stuart Recreation Area of the Monongahela National Forest, east of Elkins.
Directions:
From Elkins, West Virginia, take Highway 33 East for approximately 2 miles, turn left at Highway 6, where you'll see a directional sign for Stuart Recreation Area. Travel 1/4 mile to the park entrance.
Directions from park entrance: Turn left into the park, follow the road to the bottom of the hill and turn left. Shelter 2 will be the first structure on the left. [USFS park map]
You may bring your dog, but it must be leashed and attended. Electricity is available. The shelter pavilion is fully accessible and there are accessible toilets in the campground.
